Many years of experience in this field and long-lasting strong business relations with producers enable us to be your number one supplier for these beautiful products of nature.
DEVELOPMENT & HARVEST
In spring the trees are in full bloom,
after fertilization the blossoms will grow into figs. The figs that are
being gathered continually throughout the harvesting period need only to
be collected because they fall from the tree of their own accord. One
fig tree will yield 10 to 15 kilograms of fruit per year.
After being
gathered, the figs dry in special cases filled with reed so that air may
circulate. Drying also takes place on specially cleaned and hardened
open places in the middle of the orchard. This drying process lasts
three to four days. Figs packed in sacks are sent to factories for
further processing.
PROCESSING
On arrival at the factory
the figs are washed in a centrifugal machine, constantly refreshing the
water to which salt has been added. Subsequently the figs are checked
piece by piece in a dark room with UV light, so that an excellent
product remains. Before being packed manually (also the consumer
packaging) the figs are sorted by size and divided into ten
categories. These numbers indicate the number of figs per kilo.
Categories 03 to 06 are in greatest demand. In general, figs are also
available in for instance cubes, pieces and paste.
A happy & healthy addition to your product.
